The brand Hanika was always known among folk musicians for its very good value for money. Nowadays Hanika guitars are also very well known in the classical music. They still have an excellent price-performance ratio. They sound very good and are also very well manufactured. The Hanika guitars have a powerful sound, because they have a voluminous body. The precious wood used by Hanika has been waiting for several years in the internal wood storage and is then further processed in Hanika’s fully air-conditioned workshop. Hanika manually determines the choice of wood structure and sound quality.

The history of the Hanika family was born on 25 May 1932 in Schönbach. In October 1946, after the German musical instrument manufacturer Egerland had been expelled, Hanika’s family settled in the Bubenreuth region after a short stay in Hesse.
From 1947 to 1949 he learned violin making from his grandfather Anton Mayer (born 22 April 1883). The grandfather opened a small workshop in Baiersdorf, where he made violins. Especially the small violins are very popular with the American occupation forces as souvenirs to take home. American soldiers brought new styles of music to Germany. Helmut Hanika likes jazz and has aroused interest in related instruments (such as drums and guitars).
With the end of his training Helmut Hanika increasingly switched from violin to various guitar models and already sold the first instruments (mandolin) to the company “Framus” in Bubenreuth. He gained the necessary knowledge through his studies and the cooperation with colleagues. On June 1st 1953, after coming of age, Helmut Hanika registered his trade and thus founded the company “Helmut Hanika“.

Until 1964, drum guitars and various other guitar models were sold under the name “SOLI”. The music shop “Otto Gläsel” and the most important manufacturer of musical instruments “Willy Hödl” (special workshop for musical instruments and repairs Meggen/Lenne in Westphalia) sold “SOLI” guitars and stuck their own notes into the guitars. In the same year Armin Hanika was born. From October 1965 Helmut Hanika concentrated on classical concert guitars and is now sold under his own name “Helmut Hanika Konzertgitarren”. Hans Norman in Wiesbaden (later Arnold Stölzel) took over the distribution for a long time.

Helmut Hanika became master of plucked instrument making in Nuremberg in October 1966. Today the name Hanika is connected with the production of high-quality, classic lead guitars. After the end of the heyday of guitar building Helmut Hanika had the right feeling and left the mass production to other guitar manufacturers. He concentrated on building exclusive classical guitars, which made him famous as a guitar maker all over the world. Amin started an apprenticeship in his parents’ company.

From 1986 Armin Hanika developed his own series based on Spanish guitars with a slimmer figure, which is further expanded in the following years.

In December 1987, he was the youngest master craftsman in Nuremberg to pass the examination for the master craftsman’s diploma in plucked instrument making. Armin Hanika took over the business from the second generation and, like his father, produced high-quality, classic master guitars. Armin Hanika knows how to make first-class instruments with excellent sound quality. Finally the company name was changed to “Armin Hanika Gitarrenbau”.

Hanika still produces guitars with the best price-performance ratio in all price categories. The success of the guitar brand Hanika is also reflected in the increasing sales volume and the steadily growing “fan community”.

Quality and innovation
Hanikas guitars today only have an extremely high and stable quality of workmanship.
