In my early twenties, I discovered the guitar as a self-taught instrument. After my technical development, I felt that the sound of my first guitar was no longer satisfactory – the desire for a high-quality guitar arose. In order to be able to recognise and understand differences in quality, I studied specialist literature on guitar building in depth.
After studying the literature for some time, I decided – again as an autodidact – to build the desired guitar myself. Playing this first self-made instrument for the first time was an overwhelming and unforgettable moment that was the driving force behind my passion and my further path. During this time, the guitar maker Sascha Nowak supported me with professional advice.
In order to give my passion a groundbreaking professional direction, I decided to enrol at the Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau, Faculty of Applied Arts Schneeberg. This university is the only one in the world that offers the subject “plucked instrument making”. During my studies, I was able to gain a profound theoretical understanding of guitar acoustics and successfully completed my studies with a degree in guitar making. There I was allowed to go to the root of guitar making and was able to gain insights into traditional Spanish guitar making.
Since 2011, I have been working as a self-employed master guitar builder and still have the same passion for guitar building and the sound of each individual guitar as I did when I first played my first self-made guitar.
