Raimundo Guitars – Handcrafted in Spain
Guitarras Raimundo has been crafting classical guitars, Flamenco guitars, MIDI guitars, and acoustic guitars since 1968. Their models, handcrafted in Spain, cover a wide range from student models to handcrafted concert models for the most demanding guitarists. All Raimundo guitars are built in Spain following the traditional Spanish system, which guarantees a standard of sound quality and craftsmanship typical of this system. At Raimundo Guitars, all their guitars are handcrafted in Paterna (Valencia) using the traditional Spanish system. This system, which has been used by all Spanish guitar makers for centuries, involves connecting the top to the neck and then assembling the instrument. During the assembly process, a portion of the neck remains in the box, creating the “Spanish heel.” This system ensures a more solid construction of the guitar compared to the use of a dovetail joint, which is common in the furniture industry. Additionally, it provides greater stability and durability to the instrument.
“Guitarras Raimundo” has a team of 29 craftsmen, many of whom have been working with Manuel for more than 30 years. They produce over 12,000 instruments annually, with 85% being exported worldwide. The company has a subsidiary in the United States to distribute their guitars directly in the country.
Despite steady growth, the way “Guitarras Raimundo” is built has not changed significantly over the years. And this is no coincidence. They take pride in being able to say that all their guitars are still handcrafted in the artisanal manner and following the traditional Spanish system, inherited from a tradition that has been lost over time.
However, at “Guitarras Raimundo,” tradition and innovation are not contradictory, and their R&D department plays a fundamental role in offering new models and overcoming new challenges that add value to the instrument.
They like to believe that they never build two identical instruments; each guitar is different from the previous one. Guitarras Raimundo is the first Spanish guitar maker to have received the Spanish origin certificate for all its guitars.
