After completing his scientific studies, he enrolled at the Civic School of Lutherie, where he studied with Lorenzo Lippi and Tiziano Rizzi, graduating in 2009. During these years he also gained workshop experience with Marco Viola, a maker of archtop guitars, and developed his knowledge of restoration, repair, and precise adjustment of plucked instruments. In 2015 he opened his workshop in Paderno Dugnano, near Milan, where he builds classical guitars and continues to work on fine adjustment and restoration.

His current model has been developed over the last five years and is rooted in the French school of guitar making, with Daniel Friederich as a central influence. After receiving an original Friederich guitar from the 1970s, Bazzana studied and characterised the instrument, using it as a starting point for the development of what later became the foundation of his own model. Its construction includes an asymmetrical bracing system with a closing bar only on the treble side, a detail that reflects his personal approach to balance, response, and tonal definition. His broader philosophy follows the idea that every component of the guitar must vibrate in its entirety, allowing the instrument to respond with elasticity, nuance, and a clear connection between player and sound.

About the guitar

This 2026 Danilo Bazzana N.76 REG Limited Edition is a traditionally constructed classical guitar made for the Roma Expo Guitar Limited Edition project. It pairs a torrefied spruce top with Madagascar rosewood back and sides, while the sides are doubled with cypress on the inside to support projection and response. The instrument is finished in French polish and fitted with Alessi tuning machines, reflecting Bazzana’s preference for refined materials and precise execution without excessive visual weight.

For this Limited Edition, Bazzana created an original design for the rosette and purfling. Coloured pieces of wood combined with resin produce a subtle three dimensional effect, giving the decoration a distinctive depth while remaining elegant and finely controlled. The guitar has a remarkably open and sustained voice, with notes that speak easily and remain even as they decay. Its sound is compact and well integrated, especially in chords, where the individual tones form a clear musical unity rather than competing with one another. The torrefied spruce top gives the instrument immediacy and colour, while the Madagascar rosewood contributes depth and richness. The doubled cypress sides add focus to the response, helping the guitar project with clarity while preserving the natural elasticity of its traditional construction. The result is an expressive instrument with long sustain, refined balance, and a wide range of tonal colours available to the player.
