The workshop brought him into an environment frequented by leading guitarists including Julian Bream and John Williams, while instruments made by Fischer during this period appeared under the Rubio label with the mark “P.F.” In 1975 he established his own studio, and in 1983 a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship enabled him to undertake research in the forests of Brazil. Its traditional construction combines a spruce soundboard with beautifully figured quilted maple back and sides, giving the guitar a striking visual identity to match the refinement of its voice.
