Encountering a wide variety of handcrafted instruments awakened her fascination with how construction details influence the sound and playing characteristics of a guitar. In 2019, she graduated from the instrument-making school in Mittenwald before continuing her education in southern Spain, where she learned from experienced guitar makers in the region widely regarded as the birthplace of the modern classical guitar. Since 2022, she has been based in Weimar, sharing a workshop with fellow luthier Johanna Vogl. This environment encourages an exchange of ideas while allowing each maker to pursue an independent artistic direction. Stahl's instruments are distinguished by their remarkable precision, refined aesthetics, and a tonal character that combines traditional sweetness and clarity with the power and projection expected of modern concert guitars. Through continuous refinement of her construction methods, she strives to achieve an ideal balance between resonance, structural stability, and expressive freedom. Her dedication to craftsmanship and musical quality has earned her growing recognition among guitarists and fellow luthiers.

About the guitar

The Tamara Stahl 2026 Signature No. 25 represents a particularly refined example of contemporary German guitar making.
