He studied string instrument making in Hallstatt before gaining extensive professional experience at Hanika in Germany, eventually earning his master luthier qualification in 2003. In 2008, he established his own workshop in Lower Austria, allowing him to pursue his individual ideas and innovative construction methods. His instruments range from traditional classical guitars to contemporary crossover and multi-string models, each reflecting his creative approach, meticulous craftsmanship, and dedication to combining acoustic refinement with distinctive design.

About the guitar

The Daniel Zucali 2026 Shakti No. 2605 is an exceptional crossover guitar that brings together innovative construction, refined aesthetics, and an extraordinary level of craftsmanship. Its beautifully selected spruce soundboard features a matte finish, carefully chosen by Zucali for both its understated appearance and its acoustic characteristics. Particularly charming is the distinctive rosette, developed in collaboration with his daughter, which lends the instrument a personal and unmistakable artistic character. Beneath the soundboard lies an intricate lattice bracing system of Zucali's own design, reflecting his individual approach to achieving an ideal balance between responsiveness and tonal refinement. The instrument is further equipped with a cutaway and a pickup system by Udo Roesner, extending its versatility for contemporary playing styles and amplified performance.

Another remarkable feature is the multiscale construction with fanned frets, combining a 650 mm scale length on the bass side with 630 mm on the treble side. Despite its unconventional appearance, this arrangement feels remarkably natural under the fingers, providing a comfortable and effortless playing experience. Tonally, the Shakti offers a beautifully rounded, focused, and exceptionally balanced sound, with a remarkable sense of cohesion between the individual registers. The basses possess impressive depth and sustain, allowing notes to resonate freely for a considerable time, while a wealth of delicate overtones adds richness and complexity without compromising the clarity of the overall sound. Chords unfold with a harmonious and unified character, and the instrument responds sensitively to even subtle variations in touch. Its effortless playability and remarkably consistent tonal balance make it particularly rewarding to explore different musical textures and dynamics. Beyond its acoustic qualities, the guitar stands out for the extraordinary precision of its construction, with exceptionally clean workmanship and carefully executed details throughout. The 2026 Shakti is a sophisticated instrument that combines technical ingenuity with a warm, expressive, and thoroughly musical voice.
