Description
In 1995, Alister Atkin started to build guitars. Beginning as a one-man company, it became today’s biggest guitar manufactory in England, specialized regarding individual custom guitar models. They are magnificent instruments, built by musicians for musicians. This Relic Vintage 0-28 S is from 2015, but looks like a real vintage guitar thanks to the age toned relic gloss nitrocellulose finish. Long-known but still timeless features like the Herringbone purfling, the slender bridge with the little pyramids on the sides and the star-formed fingerboard inlays intensify this impression. This is a classic Parlor guitar: a small, slender 0 model with an open headstock, and the transition between neck and body at the 12th fret – a real dream for fingerstyle and flatpicking artists. This instrument not only looks vintage – it also sounds vintage: pleasantly warm, focused and responsive. The shorter scale gives the timbre a velvet touch and allows for very tender playing. Nevertheless, the sound is surprisingly full-bodied. The open headstock makes for clear singing trebles. The top is made of Sitka Spruce, and the back and sides are made of Indian Rosewood. The tuners are made by Grover. A Hiscox Pro II case is included.
