Description
Altamira has established a reputation as one of the most interesting brands for Gypsy Jazz guitars. With a focus on high quality woods and authentic sound, Altamira guitars offer excellent value for money. Built in Asia under the direction of Hanson Yao, who trained at the renowned Rodriguez workshop in Spain, the instruments are played by both professional and passionate Gypsy Jazz guitarists around the world.
The “M” stands for the initials of the legendary guitar maker Mario Maccaferri, who developed this type of guitar and built it in collaboration with the French manufacturer Selmer from 1932 to about 1952. Although Maccaferri’s collaboration with Selmer ended in 1934, the company continued to produce several models of this guitar until 1952. It was Django Reinhard who made the Selmer Maccaferri guitars popular and his playing style. Thus, the Selmer Maccaferri model with its relatively large body and either oval “Petite Bouche” or D-shaped “Grande Bouche” sound hole is an indispensable element for any guitarist who wants to explore the inspiring and fascinating repertoire of Gypsy Jazz.
The M01 K model differs from the usual M01 by the beautiful Koa back and sides. This wood is simply beautiful and gives the sound a sweet, rich character. With the solid spruce top, the oval sound hole (petite bouche) and the high gloss finish, this guitar has a unique character. A fantastic instrument also for playing virtuoso solos and expressive and carried melodies. For optimal protection of the instrument, a well-fitting hard case is included in the price.
