Product Description

Altamira has established a reputation as one of the most interesting brands for Gypsy Jazz guitars. With a focus on high quality woods and authentic sound, Altamira guitars offer excellent value for money. Built in Asia under the direction of Hanson Yao, who trained at the renowned Rodriguez workshop in Spain, the instruments are played by both professional and passionate Gypsy Jazz guitarists around the world.

The “M” stands for the initials of the legendary guitar maker Mario Maccaferri, who developed this type of guitar and built it in collaboration with the French manufacturer Selmer from 1932 to about 1952. Although Maccaferri’s collaboration with Selmer ended in 1934, the company continued to produce several models of this guitar until 1952. It was Django Reinhard who made the Selmer Maccaferri guitars popular and his playing style. Thus, the Selmer Maccaferri model with its relatively large body and either oval “Petite Bouche” or D-shaped “Grande Bouche” sound hole is an indispensable element for any guitarist who wants to explore the inspiring and fascinating repertoire of Gypsy Jazz.

The M model with its petite bouche is the lightweight among Altamira’s Gypsy guitars. With its beautiful laminated flamed maple back and sides and natural matte finish, it not only has an extremely appealing look, but also an incredibly lively sound. For optimal protection of the instrument, a well-fitting hard case is included in the price.
