Description
Andrea Marcellan is an Italian luthier and belongs to the new generation of outstanding and aspiring guitars builders in Italy. He attended the instrument making school “Scuola di Artigianato Artistico del Centopievese” in Bologna, after which he opened his own workshop and dedicated himself to the construction of classical guitars. He settled in Padua, Italy, where he has been building beautiful guitars for 11 years.
Due to the large number of excellent luthiers exhibiting their instruments and the outstanding quality of the guitars presented at the Roma Guitar Expo, it is certainly a globally unique event in the area of classical guitars.
Andrea Marcellan built this exquisite “Gran Concerto” model guitar no. 69 in 2022 as a showcase guitar for the 2022 Roma Expo Guitar. This “Gran Concerto” model guitar was built to a similar specification to the twin sister guitar, number 70 from the 2022 REG limited edition model, to which he added some elegant aesthetical features making it unique. Andrea’s guitars are built with remarkable attention to detail, showing his refined artistry as a great guitar maker.
This particular guitar, number 69, has a spruce soundboard combined with Indian rosewood back and sides. Due to its setup and excellent design, this guitar responds beautifully to the player’s hand, making it easy to play and maintaining total control of the instrument. Although it is a brand new guitar, it features a mature tonal quality, with warm, well-rounded trebles and deep, punchy, elegant basses.
