Description
Antonio Marín Montero was born in Granada in 1933. In 1957, he joined master Pérez’s workshop and two years later, in 1959, his father advised him to visit Eduardo Ferrer for whom he worked until opening his own workshop. Today Antonio Marin Montero is one of the most sought after Granadian guitar makers. His guitars are played in concert all around the world and they are, from our point of view, among the best Spanish guitars of our time.
This sublime Robert Bouchet model guitar is one of the most aesthetic guitars we have ever seen from Antonio Marin Montero. One of the most interesting details is the bear-claw spruce top. This type of wood was only used on rare occasions by the Spanish master. In addition, back and sides are made of Amazon rosewood with a very straight and close grain. The balance of colours and the perfection of the craftsmanship is remarkable. This guitar is in very good condition with only very few playing marks and two tiny cracks on the soundboard, that were repaired by A. M. Montero himself.
It is an open and very expressive instrument, enriched by the last twenty years of intensive playing. Abundant sympathetic resonances please the ears and give an extra dimension to the tone. The bass strings have a very Spanish tone with a great reactivity. On the other hand, the trebles are very sensitive and singing. It is a crystalline sounding guitar that can be played effortlessly and will seduce many guitarists for sure.
