Description
Bernd Holzgruber from Velden near the Wörthersee (Carinthia) in Austria was born in 1939, studied guitar with Karl Scheit in Vienna and played his final examination in 1968 on a self-constructed instrument. Since then, he took care of Scheit’s instrument collection which gave him the possibility to study master guitars, for example by Robert Bouchet, as well as historical lutes. He’s a pioneer in the construction of historical instruments and a creative luthier, who had constantly continued developing his models during his 50-year career. This tradtional spruce top guitar was built by Bernd Holzgruber 2017. Back and sides are made of Bloodwood that got his name from his reddish colour. It’s a very dense wood that is ideal to reflect the sound. To get even more stiffness and projection the sides are laminated inside with maple. The guitar has a very good volume and strength and performance power. The singing and rounded treble harmonize very well with the basses. The tuning machines are made by Sloane. A Hiscox Pro II case is included.
