Description
Here is a beautiful guitar from Winnipeg, Canada made by luthier Daryl Perry. Since 1982, Daryl focussed on building stringed instruments and is today one of Canada’s finest makers for classical guitars. He works in the tradition of the great masters of the nineteenth and twentieth century, working mostly with hand tools and giving special attention to the properties of each single piece of wood. Great guitarists such as Marcin Dylla play on Daryl’s guitars and his instruments are now rare and very requested.
This splendid guitar displays fantastic hand working skills and was built with an outstanding selection of woods. Back and sides are made of a highly figured and particularly symmetrical Ziricote. Since all the woods on this instrument are unprotected species, this guitar is Cites free. The traditional 8 fan braced spruce top has a beautiful honey colour and harmonises perfectly with the rest of the instrument. Inspired by Enrique Garcia and Antonio de Torres, this guitar is a beautiful interpretation of the old-world aesthetic and charm.
What a rich and colourful tone displayed by this already very open new guitar. The sustain on the first E string is very consistent and impressively long. The balance and the overtones are perfectly harmonized which make it a suitable concert guitar for all types of repertoire. This very sensitive and graceful instrument is definitely a great opportunity to dive into the deepness of the classical guitar and to enjoy an instrument inspired by the old masters but made for the modern guitarist.
