Description
David Ryer is a Canada based guitar maker. He started repairing guitars for local guitar shops in the 1980s. Later he crafted mainly high-quality acoustic guitars. In 2000 he did an initial training in classical guitar building with Sergei de Jonge which he completed in an extensive apprenticeship some years later. He became a good friend of Sergei and now builds high-end handcrafted acoustic and classical guitars in Ashton, Canada.
This very fine 2019 Cedar double-top guitar is one of the easiest-to-play classical guitars that one can imagine. Thanks to its slightly smaller scale, thin neck, the elevated fingerboard, and the very sensitive double-top, this instrument is suitable for guitarists, who particularly value a comfortable guitar or for players with smaller hands aiming for a true concert guitar. The double-top’s inner core is made of feather-light Paulownia wood, in opposition to the usual Nomex composite. This gives the sound a “woody” timbre with a warm tone and a huge projection. The dynamic range, color possibilities and amazing playability of this instrument make it a wonderful concert guitar.
