Description

Fritz Mueller, a distinguished classical guitar builder, discovered his passion for the instrument through the recordings of Segovia and Bream, beginning his foray into instrument building as an undergraduate in Wisconsin. His academic pursuits in literature and writing were complemented by a keen technical interest in musical acoustics, guiding him through a self-taught journey in guitar craftsmanship. Mueller’s career took a pivotal turn in the late 1970s when he worked with master guitar builder Jeff Elliott in Portland, Oregon, where he was introduced to the Hauser model, blending his empirical approach with theoretical understanding. With nearly four decades of experience, Mueller cherishes the blend of intellect, craftsmanship, and emotional engagement in his work. Living with his family on a former ranch in the British Columbia mountains, his life epitomizes the harmonious fusion of art, science, and passion in creating exquisite musical instruments.

This 2009 guitar, featuring a cedar double top, offers exceptional volume and projection. The design includes an elevated fretboard, greatly enhancing playability and comfort, particularly for complex fingerings and extended playing sessions. A unique addition by the luthier Fritz is the single sound port, which is favored by many players for creating a ‘stereophonic’ effect, enriching the auditory experience for the player. This feature, along with the guitar’s overall build quality, makes it a fine example of a double top guitar. Priced very reasonably, this instrument represents excellent value, especially considering its very good condition, with only several traces of playing wear, indicating its well-maintained status and readiness for performance.
