Description
Born in 1955, Fritz Ober learned to play the guitar at an early age. He built his first instruments in the 70s following the descriptions in books about guitar making. Later he did an apprenticeship with the instrument maker Helmut Buchsteiner, and initially concentrated on building lutes. Fritz says that the skills he acquired there have helped determine his guitar making approach of today. He is especially inspired by the old masters, such as Antonio de Torres. His workshop is situated in Munich.
This guitar from 2015 is a real masterpiece of traditional construction. All the woods are distinguished and perfectly harmonious. The spruce top with its beautiful, clear grain contrasts splendidly with the excitingly flamed rosewood back and sides. In particular, the color shading on the back is very diversified. Furthermore, the woods used for the neck, bridge and headstock are consciously selected, carefully processed and put on display. The instrument is wonderfully light, and has an unbelievably terrific and direct response. The sound is harmonic and colorful and develops magnificently in the room, both when strongly and softly played. The guitar is in very good condition, and only shows some minor signs of playing on top and back. This is craftsmanship on a world-class level. The tuners are made by Rodgers. A hard-shell case is included.
