Description
‘La Leona’ (FE 04) is the 4th guitar made by Antonio de Torres and is considered one of the best guitars he has ever made. It was commissioned by the famous guitarist Julián Arcas in 1850 and finished by Torres in 1856. Fritz Ober had the chance to look at ‘La Leona’ and made some copies of this masterpiece.
The air resonance is between D and E-flat and the guitar basses are hypnotic. Even more than just being deep basses, they are completing and enriching the middle and treble. Playing Tarrega, Albeniz, Llobet, etc. on this guitar is indeed a strong and poignant moment. Nevertheless, the versatility of the sound and the complete tone pallet will make you rediscover any other music style in a seductive way. This instrument is very soft and easy to play with this complex old-world sound and very light design. After having had Wulfin Lieske and the real “La Leona” in our shop, we can say that it really comes close to the original. This guitar has simply nothing left to be desired. The high quality tuning machines are made by Rodgers. All French polished.
