Description
Gerhard Oldiges started to build guitars in the late seventies while studying and after graduating he completed a two-year apprenticeship as a guitar maker. After that, he first worked in a guitar repair workshop and took part in a guitar making course given by José Romanillos in 1988, with whom he is still friends today and whose courses he has regularly attended since 1996. Gerhard Oldiges is intensively engaged in the history of Spanish guitar building. Thus a special focus of his work is the replication of old Spanish master instruments by Antonio de Torres, Vicente Arias, Manuel Ramírez and others.
This beautiful guitar, finished in 2020, is a remarkable example of Gerhard Oldiges’ keen sense of detail. For the soundboard he chose a captivating bear-claw spruce with a beautiful grain, which makes the guitar already visually unique and outstandingt. Along with the amazing and beautifully grained Brazilian rosewood and the excellent craftsmanship, this graceful looking guitar is already a visually stunning masterpiece. In combination with the astonishing playing comfort, the excellent sound quality, and the deeply charming timbre, the result is a true concert guitar of the highest quality, which will satisfy even the most demanding player. This special guitar is built with double sides, which gives the guitar a very good response and an excellent separation of voices. When playing, one is embraced by the seductively sweet trebles. The long sustain and the silky basses, paired with the excellent projection, round off the overall sound and leave nothing to be desired.
