Description

The Hermann Hauser® dynasty is one of the oldest guitar-making families in the world, spanning over five generations and dating back to the second half of the XIX century. Josef Hauser® (1854-1939) was a zither maker and virtuoso who passed on his enthusiasm for instrument making to his son, the famous Hermann Hauser® I (1882-1952).

The son of Hermann Hauser® I (1882-1952), Hermann Hauser® II (1911-1988) worked in his father’s workshop from 1930. In 1952 he took over the management of the workshop and led the company until 1983, establishing himself as one of the most important guitar makers of the 2oth century. His instruments have a tonality all of their own, which has captivated a whole generation of guitarists with its agility, balance and complexity. Important guitarists such as Julian Bream (1933-2020) played Hermann Hauser® II guitars.

This exceptional guitar crafted by Hermann Hauser II, one of the most distinguished luthiers of the twentieth century, is a true representation of his unparalleled skill and artistry. It epitomizes the pinnacle of guitar-making, showcasing Hauser’s ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with his unique touch. The instrument stands out for its clear, bell-like fundamental sound, which is characterized by exceptionally good separation, making every note distinct and resonant. Adding to its acoustic allure are the guitar’s lyrical, warm, and charming trebles, which harmonize beautifully with the deep and focused basses, creating a sound that is both rich and intricately balanced.

Aesthetically, the guitar exudes classic elegance, featuring a honey-colored spruce top that not only contributes to its remarkable sound quality but also enhances its visual appeal. The back and sides, made from the finest Indian rosewood, complement the spruce top, adding to the overall sophistication of the guitar’s appearance. Remarkably, this guitar has been preserved in an amazingly original condition, a testament to the quality of its construction and the care it has received over the years. This Hermann Hauser II guitar is not just an instrument; it’s a piece of musical history, offering an extraordinary playing and listening experience that will undoubtedly captivate both musicians and collectors alike.
