Description
The two friends Santiago Diaz Martinez, better known as Manuel Hernandez, and Victoriano Aguado Rodriguez got to know each other while working together in a piano factory. After the factory closed, they founded their own company that initially focused on the restauration of furniture and pianos. The two first guitars privately built by Victorio Aguado between 1945 and 1948, which were also played and examined by Regio Sainz de la Maza, were a very encouraging experience and the two friends decided to keep on building guitars. In 1948 Modesto Borreguero, who had worked in the workshop of the famous luthier Manuel Ramirez, joined Manuel Hernandez und Victoriano Aguado Rodriguez, and they started to increasingly focus on the making of guitars – with huge success. Famous artists, such as John Williams, Julian Bream and Atahualpa Yupanqui played „HyA“guitars.
This beautiful guitar built in 1965 has an incredibly beautiful sound. It was built by the then workshop foreman under the supervision and according to the guidelines of Hernandez y Aguado, which is recognizable by the inscription “Construida por nuestro oficial” on the label. It is surprisingly light, and its responsiveness is outstanding. If one is looking for a guitar with a purely Spanish sound and an immediate sound production, this guitar is the right one. In addition, the setup is perfect and the playability for both right and left hands is at its best. This guitar has no cracks and is in very good condition. It has been re-varnished, and the bridge has been replaced, preserving the original decorative plate on the tying block. This instrument is equipped with Rodgers tuners and has a pure Spanish sound typical of the guitars from the workshop of the masters Hernandez y Aguado.
