Description

Ignacio Fleta (1897-1977) is one of the most famous luthiers of the twentieth century. In addition to being a successful guitar maker, he was a recognized bowed and ancient instruments luthier (violins, violas, cellos, vihuelas, and violas de gamba). After his death, his work was continued by his two sons Gabriel and Francisco Fleta and later by his grandson Gabriel Fleta Jr. The current waiting time for a new guitar is about 20 years.

It is always a great honour and a very inspiring feeling to be able to offer instruments from such important guitar builders as Ignacio Fleta. Especially in this case, as it is a guitar built in the same year as the first Fleta by Andres Segovia, 1957.
The rosette consists of a herringbone ring on the inside and outside. In the middle of these two rings, there is a circle with mosaics in the shape of flowers. This motif is repeated on the bridge and framed with a mother-of-pearl border. The spruce top has a seven fan bracing, back and sides are made of beautiful CITES-certified Brazilian rosewood, and the Fustero tuners machine are the original ones. The guitar has several repaired cracks, which have been inspected by our luthier and are all stable. The guitar is very lively and easy to play.

This inspiring instrument has a spontaneous and powerful sound character, which we know well from Fleta built guitars. It is very dynamic and comfortable to play. One is always impressed to experience how much expressiveness and volume can be in such a guitar. At the same time, this instrument exudes an incredible charm that is often only found in aged, mature instruments and is therefore particularly captivating. It is an instrument of great lyricism, and its perfect playability allows the guitarist to give free rein to his inspiration. The timbre is round and warm with an amazing sustain and perfect balance. Ignacio Fleta’s guitars have strongly influenced and shaped an entire era, and this great instrument is an excellent witness of that time and shows us why.
