Johann Gottfried Scherzer was born in 1834. He’s one of the most important Viennese luthiers and he worked also for J. A. Stauffer. Around 1850 This Contraguitar has a The two-piece top is made of spruce wood and is framed by dark and light purflings, just like the soundhole as well. The two-piece back and the ribs are made of strongly flamed maple.The head is connected to the neck in the German style. The neck is screwed to the guitar’s body and is individually adjustable. The fingerboard has a zero fret and protrudes the soundhole.
