Description
Born in Portugal, José Marques is one of those guitar makers who came into contact with wood and music from an early age. After a career as a carpenter, José apprenticed with local and renowned guitar maker Daniel Luz to learn the craft of musical instrument making. Starting with the Portuguese guitar, the viola campaniça, he quickly turned to the classical guitar. After spending time in the United Kingdom and acquiring skills in various workshops, he settled in Cortiçois, Portugal, to devote himself entirely to building fine classical guitars.
This concert guitar with its modern construction has a very interesting concept: a double top made entirely of wood, consisting of spruce and balsa, offering power, richness, and responsiveness without the use of composite materials. The ebony back and sides are the perfect resonator for this very light top, projecting the sound efficiently towards the audience. The playability is excellent and the volume of sound is very impressive. This Marques is an excellent concert guitar with double top construction at a very attractive price.
