Description
José Luis Vigil started working with wood thanks to his uncle, a cabinet maker, who taught him the basics and passed on some tools. In 2006 Vigil moved to Granada where he learned the art of lutherie from many great luthiers such as Antonio Marin Montero, John Ray, Henner Hagenlocher, and Mario Aracama. and built his first own guitar 2007.
During construction, Jose Vigil’s aim is to produce a rich and responsive instrument that allows the player to express himself with absolute freedom. The tone should be thick and clear with good separation, well balanced between low and high frequencies, and with a great capacity for expression. Vigil strives to achieve power and projection but without compromising the quality of the timbre. Ease of execution and a fine finish is also something that stands out in Vigils craftmanship.
This guitar was built 2018 with a striking set of lush Cocobolo paired with a lovely spruce top. The craftsmanship is of the highest level, every joint and the meticulously crafted rosette is just perfect. The trebles sound clear and smooth with a lot of sustain, and the basses sound elegant with a lot of power. The overall sound-character is very even and dynamic, highly responsive and a true pleasure to play on. The condition is excellent so that this beautiful Vigil guitar looks almost like new.
