Description
Kazuo Sato is an internationally renowned luthier who apprenticed with Kuniharu Nobe in Japan from 1965 to 1971. After that period, he moved to David Rubio’s workshop in England, where he worked along with another famous luthier: Paul Fischer. In 1974 he established his own workshop in Germany. He is still based in Germany and now also works together with his son Hideo Sato.
This guitar, built in 2018, is a chef-d’oeuvre. With its 63 cm scale length, this instrument offers an outstanding playing comfort for the left hand. This top-of-the-line model by Kazuo Sato, called the model “Special”, is a little gem: built with first-class CITES certified Brazilian rosewood, it also features rare Reischl tuners. An interesting detail of this unique guitar is its bridge, which has a clever intonation system allowing the guitarist to precisely adjust the length of every single string individually by moving the three-piece bone. This guitar was thoroughly played and has some superficial playing marks; besides these, it is in fantastic condition and has a fully open and mature sound. The quality of its timbre is spectacular, and one can feel and hear the master’s 55 years of experience in crafting first-class concert guitars.
