Description
Kevin Aram was born in 1949 and grew up in Clipstone in the UK. He started building guitars full-time in 1978 and built more than 300 guitars since then. He also had the chance to study and restore great XIXth and XXth century instruments built by Vicente Arias, Domingo Esteso, Santos Hernandez, Manuel Ramirez and José Luis Romanillos for example. Kevin Aram focuses on the construction of guitars in the Torres tradition since 1991. Julian Bream famously owned a 1980s Kevin Aram guitar and recorded his 1988 instrument on his CD: “Julian Bream – La Guitarra Romantica”.
This fantastic 2011 Kevin Aram “Kristina” guitar has a strikingly beautiful and golden-honey coloured spruce top. This traditional seven-fan-bracing guitar in the Torres style is in very good condition with a perfect structural stability and only a few playing wears. It is thinly hard-waxed, which gives a natural elegance to the wood. The clear tone, the presence of fine harmonics, and a great reaction to the attack of the notes are remarkable. Also the pure crystalline timbre and excellent playability make it a perfect traditional concert guitar.
