Description
Marcelino Lopez Nieto (1931-2018) was one of the most emblematic Madrilène luthiers of the second half of the twentieth century. He was a talented guitar player and studied guitar performance under the guidance of Daniel Fortea for five years. He opened his first workshop in 1949 at the very young age of 18 years, just after having finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet-maker. He later worked in the prestigious Hernandez y Aguado workshop. Marcelino Lopez Nieto’s life was dedicated to art and guitar, and he left a great mark in the Spanish guitar making history.
Santos Hernandez was M. L. Nieto’s biggest inspiration, as he confesses in the Orfeo Magazine n°3. This gorgeaous S. Hernandez model was started in 1997 and finished in 2007. It has a beautiful three pieces maple back and a finely reproduced S. Hernandez head plate. This guitar is in excellent condition and sounds wonderful. The tone is rich and authentic with sophisticated nuances of colours.
