Description
Marcelino Lopez Nieto (1931-2018) was one of the most emblematic Madrilène luthiers of the second half of the twentieth century. He was a talented guitar player and studied guitar performance under the guidance of Daniel Fortea for five years. He opened his first workshop in 1949 at the very young age of 18 years, just after having finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet-maker. He later worked in the prestigious Hernandez y Aguado workshop. Marcelino Lopez Nieto’s life was dedicated to art and guitar, and he left a great mark in the Spanish guitar making history.
This gorgeous flamenco guitar built by Macelino Lopez Nieto in 1999 is a real beauty. Many fine marquetry details, a beautiful top made of bear-claw-spruce and mother of pearl inlays on the bridge underline the precious character of this instrument. It has a great volume and is comfortable to play. The trebles sing impressively and have a very rich and typical cypress tone. Brilliant basses and full mediums make it a very balanced instrument. This beautiful guitar is in very good condition with only one very well repaired crack on the side, and is ready to be played.
