Description
Domingo Esteso founded in 1915 the Conde dynasty in Madrid. When Esteso died in 1937 his nephews Mariano Conde Sr., Faustino Conde and Julio Conde that were trained by their uncle continued to work until 1960 for their aunt under the name of “Viuda y Sobrinos de Esteso”. Julio Conde opened already in the early 1950’s his own workshop in “calle Atocha 53”. Mariano Conde Sr. and Faustino Conde took over Esteso’s workshop from 1960 until 1988/1989 and changed their brand name to “Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso Conde Hermanos” or “Hermanos Conde Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso”. Later Mariano Sr. established his own workshop at Calle Felipe V, 2 in Madrid and his two sons Felipe (born 1957) and Mariano Jr. (born 1959) began their apprenticeship with his father and uncle Faustino at the age of 15.
Since 2010 Mariano Conde Jr. and Felipe Conde are working in different workshops.
This is a beautiful A26 Cypress Flamenco guitar by Mariano Conde with a “half-moon” head stock and Antigua Domingo Esteso Rosette. The top is made of finest German spruce. About the sound we can say that the guitar has a loud volume and a very dry, percussive and aggressive sound.
