Description
Masaki Sakurai, the nephew of the great Japanese master luthier Masaru Kohno, was born in 1944. He studied electrical engineering at Sophia University and became part of ” Kohno Guitar Manufacturing” in 1967, after graduation. In 1988, he won the prestigious first prize at the Fourth International Paris Guitar Making Competition. Masaki Sakurai’s guitars are of impeccable craftsmanship and are known for their easy playability and great volume of sound.
This beautiful guitar has all the aesthetic qualities of Kohno guitars, such as perfect craftsmanship and a spruce top with a beautiful honey color for example. The shape of the headstock is a combination of the head shape of the guitars of Robert Bouchet and Masaru Kohno. The sound of this guitar is simply amazing, way beyond our expectations for this very accessible model. Power and projection combine with great playability. The first string sounds crystal clear and sings very beautifully thanks to its impressive sustain. An almost Spanish character guitar, with rich and clear bass. It is a very convincing instrument, recommended for amateurs and professionals, alike.
