Description
On 24 May 2017 the English luthier Michael Gee celebrated his 40th anniversary as a guitar maker. He is internationally known for his guitars, which are played by great artists like Xuefei Yang. The head of this guitar has the typical “Gee silhouette” which is ” pierced ” on the front. This is similar to the instruments of Hernandez y Aguado that have influenced Michael’s work. The guitar has not only a double top, but also double sides, which greatly enhances its sustain. The condition of this guitar is excellent, with only slight wear on the top. Beautiful handmade Rodgers tuning machines underline the high quality of this outstanding instrument.
The sensitivity of this guitar is phenomenal. It reacts with vivacity and precision and has a fantastic dynamic range. The internal spruce fan reinforcement gives the cedar doubletop a very woody and complex tone, and its sound colour possibilities are really impressive. It is an overall excellent guitar in an admirable condition.
