Dutch Luthier Otto Vowinkel started making his first guitars in 1984. While at the beginning he was mainly inspired and motivated by the book ‘Classic Guitar Construction’ by Irving Sloane, he soon designed his own models, which reflected his preference for traditionally built guitars. He got to know the Dutch luthier Alex van der Horst (1959-2009) also named “Alejandro” around that time and both men shared their ideas about the ‘ideal guitar’: flexible tone, quick response and the quality of sound as the carrier of volume. A regular cooperation between the two men began and O. Vowinkel became a luthier with a great eye for detail, whose name is well-established in the world of classical guitar. Among others, Vowinkel guitars are played by classical guitarists like the Amsterdam guitar trio, Sanel Redzic, Denis Azabagic, Tariq Harb and George Sakkelariou.
Otto Vowinkel has been building guitars for quite some time and that he is a true master in his craft is obvious. This lovely instrument has that typical Vowinkel sound that so many guitarists adore. The sound has a fundamental quality with a lot of buoyancy. Smooth piercing trebles with steady and trustworthy basses creates a true concert guitar that excels in every concert hall. If you are searching for a guitar that you can experiment with tone colors on that answers to your every touch this guitar is for you.
