Description
Bernabé Sr. (* 2. Juli 1932 in Madrid; † 10. Mai 2007 Madrid) was one of the greatest and most renowned luthiers from Spain. Before he founded his first workshop in 1969, where he worked along with his son Paulino Jr. from the 1980s onwards, Paulino Sr. worked in José Ramirez III’s workshop in the 1950s and 1960s. Bernabé guitars are still played in major venues all around the world today. Thibaut Garcia, for instance, the winner of the 2016 Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) competition, has been playing on a Bernabé for several years.
The Jubilee model is a beautiful special edition by Paulino Bernabé Jr. commemorating his 60th birthday in 2020. This Jubilee guitar is also a reminder of the Maestro’s many years of passionate work, combining all his experience and craftsmanship with specially selected and rare woods from old stocks that are a small treasure in themselves. This instrument is the eight’s guitar in the Jubilee Series and the only one built with CITES-certified Rio Rosewood. It is a great instrument with filigree and generous ornamentation. It has all the depth and subtlety of the typical Bernabé sound, with excellent and expressive volume and perfect playability.
We congratulate Maestro Paulino Bernbabé on this accomplished guitar on his 60th birthday and thank him and his whole family for the work they have done over all these years, making a significant contribution to the history of the classical guitar.
