Description
Simon Burgun studied guitar making in Belgium at the “Center voor Muziekinstrumentenbouw” with Walter Verreydt and Karel Dedain. He was awarded the “De Gouden Bootschaaft” prize for the quality of his work. Simon specializes in rebuilding historical instruments, such as romantic guitars from France, or Viennese models. He has opened his studio in Strasbourg, just 80 km from Karlsruhe, where he is also devoted to the restoration of instruments.
This concert model is a very exciting interpretation of the Torres design and comes directly from Simon Burgun’s workshop. He started the construction back in 2020 (hence the 2020 label) and worked for more than a year to complete this guitar, finishing it at the end of 2021. Simon used only the best materials to build this guitar: a top made of the finest bear-claw-spruce, a wonderfully thin and straight-grained Indian rosewood for the back and sides, and high-quality Scheller tuners. Soundwise, one experiences a true tonal variety and complexity when playing this guitar. Its voice sounds intimate and offers excellent projection thanks to its distinct clarity. A very inspiring instrument that is particularly comfortable to play, especially for the left hand.
