Description
Stephen Hill is an English guitar maker based in Granada, Spain. In his inspiring career, he evolved from a talented flamenco guitarist to one of the most interesting and best builders of Spanish guitars on the market today. His inspiration came from legendary guitar makers as well as legendary guitarists with whom he built close relationships and friendships. Among others, one can mention Antonio Marin Montero, Paco Pena, Manuel Reyes, etc. Stephen Hill crafts fantastic Spanish guitars, but also shares his passion and knowledge with some talented students, from whom we have also received some very skillfully worked guitars.
Stephen Hill has dedicated most of his career to building traditional guitars, but most recently he has been developing double top instruments, with an amazing sense for this construction method. We are very impressed by the natural-sounding tone of this instrument, which gets an extra boost due to the double top construction, making the guitar sound in the best way imaginable. This model with a cedar top and beautiful Madagascar back and sides is very lightly built. Stephen Hill combines modern construction with Spanish tradition to perfection.
The ease of playability is a particularly valuable characteristic of this instrument. In addition to the power and warmth of tone, it can be played with impressive ease. As a guitarist, one feels supported and inspired by this double top, as it offers a great sense of freedom to the left hand. In addition, the treble is particularly powerful and lively, with plenty of sustain, making it effortless to control phrasing with the instrument.
