Description
After Sylvain Balestrieri graduated in classical guitar, he moved to Paris and studied at the “Ecole Normale de Paris ” for two years. He worked in some of the most famous workshops in London, such as Andy’s Guitar and Graham Noden. In 2008, he finally founded his workshop in Grenoble (FR), where he dedicates himself to a unique concert model and the restoration of antique instruments. With a very limited production each year and close to four years waiting list, Sylvain deliberately chose quality over quantity.
His approach to guitar construction follows the French tradition of guitar building and is inspired by French luthiers Robert Bouchet, Daniel Friederich, and Dominique Field. Dominique Field says of him, ”Sylvain Balestrieri’s craftsmanship is of the highest level, coupled with very tasteful artistry”. Sylvain’s work is characterized by his extraordinary patience and perfectionism. He focuses on an exceptional concert model and spends more than 200 working hours on each instrument.
This fine guitar made by the very talented and impressively skilled Frenchman meets all aspects one can expect from an excellent artisan. Sylvain has successfully shown once again his perfectionism in this beautiful instrument. Every single part of it was perfectly executed. Furthermore, the black and white yet simple rosette clearly shows Sylvain’s elegant artistic sense. The bright spruce soundboard and dark Indian rosewood back and sides complement the overall color concept of this guitar. This beautiful instrument is also acoustically captivating. It has all the attributes of a fantastic concert guitar, such as good volume, comfortable playability, and overall balance. This guitar is genuinely a premium instrument from the next-generation French guitar-making tradition keeper.
