Description

The Carrillo family started making guitars in 1744 in “Manchuela Conquense”, also called Casasimarro. As early as the 19th century, the town was nicknamed “El pueblo de las Guitarras”, the town of guitars. The instruments are still made in the same place by Vicente Carrillo, the seventh generation of the family to make guitars.

Vicente Carrillo was awarded the “Regional Craftsmanship Award” in 2009 and also the “National Award” in 2010. All his guitars have a distinctive sound that offers a balance between carrying basses and sweet trebles. Innovation is always an important factor in his workshop. He uses a variety of construction techniques, constantly evolving to better understand the art of guitar building.Artists who play or have played guitars built by Vicente Carrillo include: Paco de Lucía, Tomatito, J.M. Cañizarez, El Niño Josele, Rafael Cañizares, Javier Limón, Keith Richards & Josemi Carmona (Ketama).

The top of this beautiful guitar is made of fine spruce and the back and sides of Madagascar rosewood, giving it an exotic and classy look. Thanks to the excellent response, only minimal effort is needed in the right hand to achieve maximum projection and volume. The very comfortable 63 cm scale also offers excellent playability and supports the guitarist during stretches and acrobatic fingerings. This guitar’s sound is both very spontaneous and joyful to play, as well as extremely warm and singing. The trebles have a distinct personality and a rounded, Spanish sound. The basses have a beautiful depth and offer a great space for strong and velvety mids. With its shorter scale length, it is also very easy to play and a real delight for both the guitarist and the audience.
