Wolfgang Jellinghaus has been building guitars since the age of fourteen. He was born in 1951 in Dortmund, Germany, the son of a guitar maker, where he grew up with guitars at an early age. Over the years he developed a great passion and expertise for this instrument. Wolfgang Jellinghaus has been living and working in China for several years, where he builds handmade guitars of astonishing quality in a small manufactory.
This impressive replica by Wolfgang Jellinghaus shows remarkable qualities. Inspired by the famous Manuel Ramirez guitar owned by Andrés Segovia from 1912, its design is faithful to the original, and its sound is also worth listening to. It develops an impressive volume of sound with a crisp and textured tonal character that supports the guitarist both in concert halls and on more intimate occasions. As is customary with Wolfgang Jellinghaus’ top-of-the-line models, this guitar is fully shellac polished and built with premium solid woods.
This version of the Segovia 1912 model has a spectacular flamed maple back and sides and has been finished with a clear shellac polish. Overall, it is a very lightweight, exceptionally sensitive and charming sounding guitar. The tone is remarkably rich and warm. Given how pleasant it is to play as well, this Jellinghaus is an exceedingly noteworthy guitar in this price range.
