About the luthier
Simon Marty began building guitars in 1982, driven by a guitarist’s curiosity to explore fresh approaches to luthiery that could deliver measurable improvements in tone and projection. In 1984, he received a grant from the Australian government to apply advanced research methods, including laser holography and computer finite element analysis, to refine his designs. This scientific approach led to the development of a distinctive radial bracing system that has become his signature. His instruments are known for their exceptional power, responsiveness, and tonal balance, and they are played by renowned guitarists such as Anabel Montesinos, Scott Tennant, Mak Grgić, Slava Grigoryan, and Marco Tamayo.
About the guitar
This 2025 Simon Marty guitar embodies the luthier’s precision-driven philosophy. The finely crafted cedar soundboard is supported by his unique radial bracing, designed to work in synergy with strongly braced sides. This combination produces remarkable projection, consistent tonal character, and exceptional balance across the registers. The Madagascar rosewood back and sides add depth and richness to the sound, complementing the clarity and warmth of the cedar top.
Comfort is also a key aspect of this instrument, evident in the ergonomic neck profile and its effortless responsiveness to right-hand articulation. With an air resonance at G sharp, a scale length of 650 mm, and a nut width of 53 mm, it offers an ideal setup for players seeking both tonal sophistication and playability. Equipped with Gilbert tuners and Knobloch EDC 34.0 strings, this guitar is a prime example of Simon Marty’s craftsmanship at its peak.
