Teodoro Pérez was born in Soria, Spain in 1952. Later he moved to Madrid to study. In 1966, he began to work at the workshop of José Ramirez III where he learnt to make bandurrias, lutes and mandolins. In 1969 he was sent to the workshop in Calle General Margallo in Madrid, where he worked for some of the greatest guitar masters of that time and met famous artists like Andrés Segovia and Narciso Yepes. In 1991 he set up his own company and has since gained worldwide recognition.
This unique guitar was built as a replica of the famous 1884 Antonio de Torres guitar named “La Emperatriz”. It has beautifully figured bird’s eye maple back and sides. The neck is also built of this fantastic wood, which is a very rare feature. Top-quality Rodgers tuners are holding a perfect pitch. This guitar has a smooth old-world sound with marvellous trebles and very deep basses. The playability is perfect, and this instrument takes both listener and player back in time.
