Description
Petar Antic was born in Belgrade, Serbia, where he grew up surrounded by nature, animals, and traditional crafts. As the son of a talented artist and craftsman, he was exposed to natural materials and attention to detail at an early age. At the age of 14, he was introduced to the guitar. Fascinated by a concert by Andres Segovia, he quickly realised that the guitar was his passion. Being left-handed, he had difficulties finding a suitable guitar at the time, which led him to learn the art of guitar making. Petar found his own way, his own vision and style of guitar making, combining the heritage of the great traditional masters with his own personal taste and aesthetics.
The 2017 No. A34 guitar by the late Petar Antic is a distinguished creation that beautifully reflects the superior craftsmanship of its maker. This instrument, personally delivered by Antic’s son, carries not only remarkable musical qualities but also deep sentimental value, symbolizing the enduring legacy of a gifted luthier. Classified as New Old Stock (NOS), the guitar remains in impeccable condition. The guitar features a rare and unique African Whitewood soundboard, a choice that significantly enhances its acoustic properties, producing brilliant trebles along with a soothing and warm tonal quality. This is elegantly paired with Madagascar rosewood for the back and sides, adding both visual allure and richness to the instrument’s sound. The combination of these materials, along with Antic’s skilled craftsmanship, results in a guitar that is not only a pleasure to play but also a significant piece of luthiery art.
