Annette Stephany – Master guitar maker
About herself, Annette writes:
I have been involved in building guitars and acoustic plucked instruments since 2003. After my three-year apprenticeship at the “Fachschule für Geigenbau und Zupfinstrumentenmacher” in Mittenwald under the masters Thassilo Meyer and Leo Sprenger, I worked from 2006 to 2009 for the master guitar and violin maker Lorenzo Frignani in Modena (Italy). There I was able to gain a deep insight into the field of restoration and conservation of old plucked instruments and learn many interesting and helpful working methods. From then on, it aroused my interest in the conservation of antique instruments.
To learn new techniques and procedures of restoration, I visited the workshop of the Cologne guitar maker and restorer Bernd Kresse for half a year, who generously shared his extensive knowledge with me.
Since 2010 I have been working independently alongside Lorenzo Frignani in Italy and also run a small workshop in Coburg.
