Annette Stephany – Guitar Master

Annette writes about herself:
Since 2003, I have been dedicated to the construction of guitars and acoustic string instruments. After completing my three-year education at the “Fachschule für Geigenbau und Zupfinstrumentenmacher” in Mittenwald under the guidance of masters Thassilo Meyer and Leo Sprenger, I worked from 2006 to 2009 for the guitar and violin maker Lorenzo Frignani in Modena, Italy. During this time, I gained a profound insight into the field of restoration and preservation of antique string instruments, acquiring many interesting and invaluable working techniques. This experience ignited my interest in preserving antique instruments.

To explore new techniques and approaches to restoration, I spent half a year in the workshop of Cologne-based guitar maker and restorer Bernd Kresse, who generously shared his extensive knowledge with me.

Since 2010, I have been working independently alongside Lorenzo Frignani in Italy and also maintain a small workshop in Coburg.

Here, Annette immersed herself in the intricate world of restoring and conserving vintage string instruments, acquiring a treasure trove of techniques that would shape her craft.
