Description
Roy Fankhänel’s runs his workshop in Oelsnitz, Germany, where he builds guitars in the German tradition. He shows a very high level of craftmanship that can be seen in features such as the V-joint, the details of the rosette, the design of the head and the quality of the construction in general. His guitars are powerful instruments with a generous rich sound. They are very easy to play and feature a slightly radiused elevated fingerboard.
This guitar is very special, as it is one of the first pieces of Roy Fankhänel’s new model “Clara”. Roy has made some changes in the construction method to produce a guitar with even more projection and volume, as well as an elegant and elaborate appearance. This instrument has a special back bracing and triple sides. Nevertheless the weight has not increased and this guitar is very comfortable to handle. Numerous inlays, especially on the bridge and the rosette, give it a elegant and elaborated overall appearance, while at the same time it follows the Spanish tradition.
The sound qualities of this guitar are incredible. It is a very powerful instrument with a very rich and versatile tone. Also the sustain is one of the outstanding qualities of this guitar. It is consistent right up to the high registers and especially between the 12th and 20th fret it sounds simply phenomenal.
