Description
Roy Fankhänel runs his workshop in Oelsnitz, Germany, where he builds guitars in the German tradition. He shows a very high level of craftsmanship that can be seen in features such as the V-joint, the details of the rosette, the design of the head, and the quality of the construction in general. His guitars are potent instruments with a generous rich sound. They are straightforward to play and feature a slightly radiused elevated fingerboard.
At first glance, the guitar’s decorative motifs captivate the onlooker’s attention. Masterful craftsmanship is visible in the intricate rosette and the meticulously detailed ornaments that grace its binding. These elements bestow upon the instrument a sense of age-old allure, harmoniously blending with the innovative color palette that is both refreshing and exquisitely sophisticated.
The Roy Fankhänel guitar No. 227 is a perfect amalgamation of captivating aesthetics and captivating sound. Diverging from the traditional use of rosewood, its back, and sides are crafted from Ebony, a dense wood renowned for delivering a unique sound texture. This includes radiant trebles and profound, resonant bass tones. Paired with an Alpine spruce top, known for its unmatched resonance and crystalline tonal delivery, this guitar’s sound is a delight to the ears.
One of its standout features is the carbon fibre Tornavoz, incorporating Roy’s signature twist and design. This innovation results in a low body resonance, producing deep, dark, and charming notes that are sure to captivate any audience.
Functionality meets innovation in its neck design. Sporting a matte finish, it’s tailored to fend off sweat-induced wear, ensuring the guitar remains in impeccable condition for years. The radius fingerboard is a revolutionary addition, designed with the utmost precision to improve the guitarist’s grip and finger movement. This innovation takes the playability to new heights, promising a playing experience as seamless as it is sonorous.
