Description
Simeon Yolkin is a Russian guitar maker whom we had the pleasure to welcome in our store in Karlsruhe some time ago. His guitars, which are built between Russia and Granada in Spain, have really impressed us with their handcrafted quality, lightweight and poetic tone.
This guitar, inspired by the instruments of the legendary José Luis Romanillos, is one of the best examples of Simeon’s work. It is finely and extremely tastefully decorated with filigree patterns and sophisticated woodworking. Also, the beautiful hazel spruce top and the high-quality Alessi machine heads show how much importance Simeon attached to the quality of materials in the creation of this instrument. As this is a rather lightweight traditional guitar, it has a very fast response in combination with a particularly deep natural resonance. The basses sound warm and deep but not boomy and carry very well through the room. Its easy playability and rich tone make it an interesting and fascinating guitar. Finally, as you can read on the label, this guitar is a homage to the brilliant Julian Bream (1933-2020). And indeed, it is an instrument that allows playing with the entire range of timbres that the classical guitar offers, just like the English master did.
