Description
Tobias Braun was born in 1960 in Holzminden, Germany. Shortly after, his family moved to Perchtoldsdorf near Vienna, Austria. In 1983 he built his first concert guitar and a year later he completed a course about guitar making taught by José Romanillos. A second course followed in 1988, and a third course in 1989. In the same year he completed his master’s certificate in Vienna.
This guitar has a spruce top. Back and ribs are made of East Indian rosewood. A special feature is a small tornavoz, which is built-in 17mm lower. Tobias Braun got the inspiration for this from studying the traditional Spanish lutherie. A tornavoz can also be found in guitars made by Antonio de Torres, and has the aim to increase the projection capability of the guitars. In addition to that, the body resonates less, which is conducive for the sonority of the instruments. The motif of the guitar’s rosette shows two small keys. This motif has a regional reference to the residence of Tobias Braun and corresponds to the coat of arms of the district of Melk in Upper Austria.
