Description
Vicente Arias (1833-1914) was born in Ciudad Real, in the south of Madrid. Like Antonio de Torres he started as a cabinet maker and was self-taught as a guitar maker. He probably started to build guitars in 1860. He won many prestigious prizes around the world i.e. Buenos Aires, Madrid, Brussels and Barcelona. Famous guitarists like Francisco Tárrega played his guitars. This instrument was built in 1885 and is in top playing condition. The spruce top has some repairs but regarding its age it’s in very good condition like also the rosewood back. The fretboard and the frets were replaced like also the original pegs which were replaced with modern tuning pegs by Peghed.
