P. Bernabé Sr. (* 2. Juli 1932 in Madrid; † 10. Mai 2007 Madrid) was one of Spain's greatest and most renowned luthiers. Before he founded his first workshop in 1969, where he built guitars with his son Paulino Jr. from the 1980s onwards, Paulino Sr. worked in José Ramirez III’s workshop in the 1950s and 1960s. Bernabe guitars are still played in major venues all around the world today. Thibaut Garcia, for instance, the winner of the 2016 Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) competition, has been playing on a Bernabe for several years.
This model has been developed as a cost-effective alternative to the more elaborate instruments from the Paulino Bernabe workshop and offers high sound quality and the best playability, e.g., for students or guitarists with a limited budget. A lovely honey-colored cedar top combined with straight-grained Indian rosewood back and sides result in a very appealing traditional instrument. This guitar is in very good condition with several playing marks. The back and sides have been professionally refinished. Since it has been played regularly over the last twelve years, this M10 has a richly open and generous sound. The notes sound very clear and have a good balance between the registers.
