Description
Lorenzo Bellafontana was born in 1906 in Genoa, Italy, and started working in the workshop of Oreste Candi when he was 18. There, he built guitars, following the example of Guadagnini in order to dedicate himself later to bowed instruments as well. In 1935, after ten years, he set up his own business in Pegli (near Genoa) and focused again on the construction of guitars that comply with the Guadagnini design. The same year he won the silver medal in the Florentine “Concorso Artigianato”. Lorenzo Bellafontana died on 20 June 1979. This guitar by Lorenzo Bellafontana has a spruce top. Back and ribs are made of fine East Indian rosewood.
